Seahawks release training camp practice dates

The Seahawks announced Tuesday that the first of nine training camp practices in what is the first season for rookie head coach Mike Macdonald will be held July 24.

Eight others will be held through Aug. 8. Those dates are July 26, 27, 30; and Aug. 1, 2, 5, 7 and 8.

The Seahawks will also hold their annual football fan fest at Lumen Field on Aug. 3.

Registration for the practices began Tuesday at seahawks.com/trainingcamp.

The team announced that a $15 transportation fee will be charged per person to attend Seahawks training camp practices at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center and that fans will be required to park off-site at The Landing in Renton and be shuttled to the facility before each practice.

New this season, the use of cameras and cellphones will be prohibited during practice but will be permitted before and after.

The team also announced there will again be special theme days, including two season ticket holder days, two kids days, Throwbacks Day, College & Alumni Day and Mascot Mayhem Day.

The team stated that there will again be post-practice autograph opportunities with coaches, players and Seahawks Legends, as well as themed giveaways and entertainment by the Seahawks Dancers, Blue Thunder, Blitz, and Boom. Seahawks Pro Shop pop-up stores will be on site with the latest gear, and food and beverage will also be available for purchase.

The team will also enforce the NFL’s clear bag policy at Seahawks training camp. Outside food and sealed water bottles are permitted, however they must only be carried in bags compliant with the clear bag policy.

Fans 15 years or younger must be accompanied by an adult.

First-year players will report for camp on July 17 and veterans on July 23.

Huskies land four-star tight end for 2025

For the second time in as many days, Washington has landed one of the top tight ends on the West Coast.

The Huskies picked up a commitment from four-star tight end Vander Ploog, who announced his pledge via social media on Tuesday. The Troy High School star who hails from Fullerton, Calif., is the 15th recruit in Washington’s 2025 recruiting class, and the eighth commitment over the past three days.

The 6-foot-6, 223-pound Ploog is the second tight end to commit to UW and position coach Jordan Paopao. The Huskies received a pledge from West Linn, Ore., native Baron Naone, the top football prospect in the state, on June 24. Ploog is a consensus four-star prospect, ranked as the No. 21 player in California and the No. 11 tight end in the country.

Ploog also held offers from Arizona State, California, Michigan State, Minnesota, Oregon State, SMU, UCLA, Utah and Washington State among others. He took five official visits, seeing the Sun Devils, Golden Bears, Mustangs and Utes before choosing the Huskies, who had his first visit on May 3.

Despite his emergence as a top football recruit, Ploog comes from a basketball background. His grandfather, T.J. Hardeman, is the women’s basketball coach at Azusa Pacific. His father, Dan Ploog, is an assistant on Hardeman’s staff and played basketball at Biola University. Ploog’s mother, Heidi Ploog, also played basketball at Biola.

Macon commits to Washington: Washington landed a commitment from three-star defensive lineman Dominic Macon, who announced his pledge on social media Tuesday.

A 6-foot-3, 305-pound defensive lineman, Macon plays at Adrienne C. Nelson High School, a public school in Happy Valley, Ore., southeast of Portland. He chose Washington instead of scholarship offers from Boise State, Oregon State, San Diego State, Washington State and several FCS offers.

Macon is ranked as the No. 8 player in Oregon and the No. 108 defensive lineman in the country by 247Sports. He took an official visit to Washington on Jan. 21, just a week after he was officially offered by the Huskies.

“Macon is a big, strong defensive tackle prospect with an intriguing upside,” national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins told 247Sports. “He flashed for us at the Under Armour Next Camp in Seattle back in April. At 6-4, 300 pounds, he showed quickness in the position drills, moves really well for a big man and has plenty of length with a near 80” wingspan.

“He’s a powerful kid who doubles as one of the state’s top wrestlers and finished off an undefeated season winning a heavyweight state title back in February. He’s somewhat of a late bloomer whose recruitment really took off over the last few months.”

Huskies add three players on Monday: Baron Naone, a three-star tight end and the consensus top player in Oregon for the 2025 recruiting cycle, announced his commitment to Washington on his social media Monday.

Naone’s commitment was followed shortly by a pledge from local three-star athlete D’Aryhian Clemons, a Spanaway Lake High School standout, and four-star athlete Jonathan Epperson Jr., who stars at Auburn Riverside High School and is considered a top-three player in the state.

Naone, a West Linn, Ore., native, is considered a three-star prospect by 247Sports industry-generated composite rankings, but the website’s own ratings consider him a four-star recruit and the No. 16 tight end in the country.

Clemons, a 6-foot, 170-pound athlete who plays running back and defensive back at Spanaway Lake High School, is considered the No. 6 player in Washington and the No. 69 athlete in the country according to 247Sports composite rankings.

Epperson, the third local recruit in the class so far, is also the third composite four-star prospect to join Washington’s 2025 class. A two-way star at Auburn Riverside High School where he plays running back and linebacker, Epperson is considered the No. 3 player in Washington and the No. 16 ranked athlete nationally by the composite ratings.
